Düsseldorf company Druckstudio GmbH has won bronze in the annual reports category in this year’s Sappi European Printers of the Year Awards, impressing the judges with the annual report it prepared for Sinnerschrader AG. Particularly impressive features included the top-quality honeycomb structure on the cover page and UV spot coating. Managing Directors Werner Drechsler and Dirk Puslat accepted the coveted award presented to Europe’s best print products at the award ceremony held in Prague on 29 May.
This is the second year in a row that Druckstudio GmbH has entered the Sappi European Printers of the Year Awards and it once again found itself on the winners’ podium with the annual report prepared for Sinnerschrader AG. The inside pages were printed on Sappi Profi Silk paper. The report’s cover is a real eye-catcher. Its impressive honeycomb structure was laser-punched over an area of around nine by seven centimetres and was applied as a UV spot coating to the remainder of the page. A two-in-one brochure binding was used that enables the image section to be inserted separately in the cover of the annual report.
“Surfaces finishes are our speciality and developing new solutions with our customers and experts is always enjoyable,” says Werner Drechsler, Managing Director of Druckstudio GmbH. “Over a period of four weeks, the entire team tried out all kinds of finishing techniques for the annual report. Screen-printed finishes and die-cutting feature throughout the report. We ultimately decided on the laser-punched honeycomb structure combined with a UV coating for the cover. This impressed not only our customer, but also the panel of judges,” he adds.
The Sappi European Printers of the Year Awards are presented in eleven categories. This year, more than 2,000 print shops from 34 European countries and the Middle East submitted entries, with 49 finalists making it to Prague. Sappi is the world’s largest manufacturer of coated fine papers and special packaging, label and release paper.
