Druckstudio GmbH in Düsseldorf has won the gold Special Prize for Print & Innovation at this year’s BCP (Best Corporate Publishing) Awards. The product that secured the win is the anniversary edition of the JADES customer magazine, which impressed the judging panel with its unique combination of high-end surface finishes on the cover page. The award was accepted in Hamburg on 30 June by Managing Director Werner Drechsler and Marketing Manager Fotini Drechsler.

1619894_bcp1Druckstudio GmbH entered the BCP Awards for the first time this year. And the company beat off stiff competition from four competitors shortlisted in the Special Prize for Print & Innovation, which celebrates outstanding examples of surface finishing, material mix and postpress work. The customer magazine submitted by Druckstudio, which was released to mark the tenth anniversary of designer boutique JADES, really impressed the judging panel.

The various different surface finishing techniques used together on the cover page are what make this piece of work really stand out. Druckstudio printed in pink and black before then applying hot-foil embossing in silver. Glossy cellophane was applied over the entire cover page and then the areas that the customer wanted matt were covered with a scratch-resistant UV matt coating. “Young, colourful, vibrant. The magazine from fashion label JADES is a genuine showpiece in terms of content and a tour de force of all the print techniques available to publishers. The magazine is the perfect example of what can be achieved with paper,” was how the panel summed up the winning entry.

“Making the seemingly impossible possible – that is what makes our work stand out,” explains Werner Drechsler, Managing Director of Druckstudio GmbH. “Besides relishing the chance to develop truly outstanding solutions, our staff are, more importantly, extremely well trained and offer extensive experience and know-how. That’s how we produce creative magazines and periodicals – such as the customer magazine for JADES – that are much more than bulk goods. Winning the gold BCP Award is amazing recognition for our work and gives us a great boost.”

With over 600 projects submitted to the panel, the BCP Awards are Europe’s largest corporate publishing competition. Presented by Forum Corporate Publishing (FCP) and industry journals acquisa, Horizont, w&v and Schweizer Werbewoche, the BCP Best of Corporate Publishing Awards have been celebrating the best corporate publications in German-speaking countries since 2003. The coveted awards are presented in 29 different categories and four special prizes.
